Australian shares open higher

The Australian share market has opened higher after indications the US Federal Reserve could raise interest rates there next year. At 1010 AEST on Thursday, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was 8.7 points, or 0.16 per cent, higher at 5,416.0, while the broader All Ordinaries index was up 7.8 points, or 0.14 per cent, at 5,419.2. On the ASX 24, the December share price index futures contract was 26 points higher at 5,427, with 14,267 contracts traded, according to AAP.
