Australian shares open lower

The Australian share market has opened lower as investors mull over a downgrade to China's economic growth expectations. At the open on Monday, the benchmark SP/ASX200 index was 36.9 points, or 0.67 per cent, lower at 5,494.2, while the broader All Ordinaries index was down 36.1 points, or 0.65 per cent, at 5,496.2. On the ASX 24, the September share price index futures contract was 44 points lower at 5,494, with 11,062 contracts traded, according to skynews.com
