Authorities restructure board of Biman Bangladesh Airlines

Authorities responsible for Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited significantly restructured its Board of Directors on Tuesday as per company rules to combat corruption and improve leadership and governance at the national airline.
This restructuring was completed in accordance with articles 37 and 38 of the company's Articles of Association and the Companies Act.
The changes took immediate effect following an official notification issued on Tuesday, signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Rumana Yasmin.
The new board features a diverse group of high-ranking government officials and notable individuals from various sectors.
Abdul Muid Chowdhury will continue as the Chairman of the board. Key members include: the Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, the Secretary of the Finance Division from the Ministry of Finance, and the Chairman of the National Board of Revenue.
Other prominent appointments are the Secretary of the Office of the Chief Adviser, the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority, and the Engineer-in-Chief of the Bangladesh Army.
From the business community, Mahbubur Rahman, president of the International Chamber of Commerce Bangladesh, and Md Nazrul Islam Mazumder, Chairman of the Association of Bankers Bangladesh, are also part of the board.
Additional members include: Lt Col (Retd) Engineer Shahriar Ahmed Chowdhury, a former director at Biman, and Noor-E-Khoda Abdul Mobin, a council member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh.
Arifur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of Emerging Credit Rating Limited, and Ali Ashfaq from Rangs Waterfront have also been appointed to the board.
