Wednesday, 5 September 2007

A group of Supreme Court lawyers Tuesday dropped an application trying to meet the detained former premier and BNP chairperson, Khaleda Zia, at the special jail on the Sangsad Bhaban premises as they lined up for defending her in lawcourt, reports UNB.
The group of 10, led by Advocate Helal Uddin Mollah, went to the special jail and dropped the petition as well as vocalatnama for the signature of Begum Zia to deal with the corruption case filed against her by the Anti-corruption Commission Sunday night with the Tejgaon police station.
Advocate Mollah told reporters at the special jail gate that the jail authorities would take steps to allow them to meet the BNP chairperson and get the vocalatnama signed by her.
"We have already submitted an application to the jail authority and will come tomorrow (Wednesday) at about 3pm, or at any suitable time, to meet Khaleda Zia and to get her vocalatnama signature if the jail authority accepted our application," he said.
According to bdnews24.com, some BNP leaders and lawyers went to Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Tuesday to meet the detained former prime minister Khaleda Zia but failed to do so.
They had no permission to see their leader and the jail authorities allowed nobody to meet her.
