Auto-rickshaw driver killed in mass beating

RAJSHAHI, Apr 1: An auto-rickshaw driver was beaten to death at Ranibazaar Madrassa area of the city on Monday noon.
The victim has been identified as Sweet Hossain (22), son of Jalal Uddin of Chowddopai area of Motihar thana.
It is learnt, Sweet was driving his autorickshaw through Ranibazaar area around 11-45 am on Monday. Accidentally, he knocked a rickshaw with his vehicle and the ricksahwpuller fell down on the road. The incident made the local people angry who caught Sweet and gave him a mass beating injuring him fatally. Later, the local people rescued him from the grip of the angry mob and sent him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Rasheduzzaman Rashed, President of Rajshahi Battery Operated Easy Bike Labourers Union informed the incidents of killing of autorickshaw drivers have increased in Rajshahi.
Ziaur Rahman Zia, Officer-in-charge of Boalia Model thana said, he has heard about the incident and police has been sent to investigate into the incident.
