Avian flu hits poultry farms in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Mar 27: Thousands of poultry birds affected by avian influenza viruses in the district were culled last week.
Stamping out of 3,000 avian influenza affected poultry birds had been completed in a single farm in Ramnagar Union Parishad of Sadar Upazila in the district.
When contacted, Noor Islam, district livestock officer, Nilphamari, told The FE that even the eggs of the affected poultry farms were also destroyed.
He said earlier, the officers of Field Disease Investigation Laboratory at Joypurhut confirmed that the disease was detected in their laboratory when the case was been referred to them.
The poultry farmers in the district in the situation are passing their days in great anxiety.
