Saturday, 16 June 2007

Speakers at a national health conference Thursday underscored the need for launching an awareness campaign on the `health rights' of people in the country, reports BSS.
"Health is one of the basic rights of people so that medicare services should be made available to poor people of the country", they said.
Former adviser of the caretaker government Sultana Kamal spoke at the inaugural function as the chief guest.
Health Research and Rights Foundation and Population Services and Training Centre are organising the two-day first national conference.
Chairman of Reception Council Nazmun Nahar presided over the inaugural function held in the BIAM auditorium here.
Former VC of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Mahmud Hasan, Rasheed-e-Mahbub, Farzana Naim and Nitai Das, among others, spoke on the occasion.
Sultana Kamal said medicare services have become hostage to some people due to discriminatory political, economic and social system.
"Health service is one of the fundamental rights of the people, so people should be aware of their health rights," she said.
Hasan said medicare services should be made available to the poor people of the country.
