FE Report | Tuesday, 10 June 2008

Bangladesh Bank Governor Salehuddin Ahmed requested the media channels to make best use of these products as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Dr Salehuddin Ahmed made the appeal while speaking as the chief guest in the launching ceremony of a year-long "National Awareness Campaign on Remittance" at BRAC Centre Inn Monday in partnership with the Refugee and Migratory Movements Research Unit (RMMRU).

Dr Salehuddin Ahmed advised all public and private banks to use these products in their trainings and other relevant activities.

The campaign is part of the Remittance and Payments Partnership (RPP) of Bangladesh Bank and the Department for International Development (DFID).

It is the first ever media campaign on remittance transfer and utilisation in Bangladesh targeting the remitters, their families and service providers. The campaign also reaches out to the policy makers.

The programme was started with a welcome note by RPP Project Director and BB Executive Director Khandakar Muzharul Haque.

RPP Project Adviser and RMMRU EC member Tasneem Siddiqui presented the campaign products including TV and radio PSAs, telefilms and music videos.

Ministry of Information Secretary Jamil Osman also spoke in the inaugural function.
