Awareness can prevent dengue fever
Tuesday, 30 July 2019
Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne disease spread by the female Aedes mosquito. It can be prevented if people are aware of the sources of such mosquitoes, the places they breed etc.. These female mosquitoes lay their eggs in places that have stagnant water over several days. These can be plastic drums, drinking bowls for animals, broken washbasins, tanks, refrigerator, flower pots etc. It does not lay eggs in drains, canals, wetlands, rivers or lakes as chlorine is harmful for them.
So to prevent this disease people should clean these areas of their house and neighbouring areas daily. Useless broken things should be thrown away. Mosquito repelling cream or spray can be used in the house. Long sleeved shirts, full pants, socks and closed shoes should be worn to avoid mosquito bites around dusk and dawn.
