Awareness can prevent fire accidents

Sunday, 2 November 2014

WE often read about fire incidents taking place but we do not take enough precaution to prevent such accidents from taking place. Nimtoli fire tragedy, which took away 124 valuable lives in 2010, has been fading away from our mind and it seems we won't wake up until something bad happens to us.   In 2012, we experienced another devastating fire incident in Tazrin Fashions which also claimed 117 lives and became a national tragedy. We often find out that many fire incidents take place due to short circuits and carelessness. We must not forget that a little bit of carelessness from our side can be the cause of a fatal accident and our own life could be in danger.
We should remember the time tested proverb that 'a stitch in time saves nine' and implement it in our real life. All high-rise buildings of our country should have fire fighting equipment because at times of danger these can prove to be  life saving. The government should revamp the Fire Department with new equipment and technology so that they can help save the lives of the citizens at times of danger.
