Awareness stressed for reducing environmental degradation

RANGPUR, Jan 8 (BSS): Speakers at a seminar here Saturday stressed for social awareness to reduce degradation of the environment for ensuring a safer future for the planet.
They blamed massive emission of industrial black smoke, poisonous wastes, dusts, unplanned urbanisation, indiscriminate tree felling and other manmade reasons for faster degradation of environment causing threats to civilisation.
Boruahat Technical and Business Management College (BTBMC) organised the seminar titled 'Awareness Building Activities for Saving Environment' at the college ground in Kawnia Upazila with Assistant Commissioner (Land) Aminul Islam in the chair.
Prof Shah Alam Ahsan presented the keynote paper and elaborately narrated the reasons behind degradation of the environment, ecology, bio-diversity and the present scenario and increasing threats at the national and global arenas.
Kawnia Upazila Chairman Anwarul Islam, Head of the Bangla Department of Begum Rokeya Government College Prof Shah Alam, its Geography Lecturer Atiar Rahman and Principal of BTBMC Prof Shah Rezaul Islam, also addressed.
