Sunday, 25 December 2011

KISHOREGANJ, Dec 24 (bdnews24.com): Former Jama'at-e-Islami chief Ghulam Azam will be arrested soon after the court issues the arrest warrant, home minister Sahara Khatun has said. "The arrest warrant for him has already been sought from the court," she said on Saturday at a programme at Bhairab. The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), formed to try crimes against humanity during the 1971 liberation war, will decide on Dec 26 about accepting accusations levelled by the prosecution against Ghulam Azam for his role in the war and request to issue an arrest warrant. The prosecution had moved the tribunal on Dec 12 for arrest warrant against the Jama'at leader, who lives in the capital's Maghbazar, after submitting a 52-point list of charges to the three-judge panel headed by justice Nizamul Huq.
