Azhar trial: ICT summons 4
Sunday, 3 August 2014
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has summoned the editor of Daily Sangram and three other people for reporting and commenting on sub-judice matters. The ICT-1 on Sunday ordered Sangram Editor Abul Asad, the paper’s Rangpur correspondent, Rangpur’s former ‘freedom fighter commander’ Iqramul Haque Dulu and former Chhatra League leader Azizur Rahman Sarkar Ranga to present themselves in the court on August 20 and explain why contempt charges should not be brought against them. The order follows a piece published on Jamaat Secretary General ATM Azharul Islam, who is on trial for crimes against humanity during Bangladesh’s independence struggles in 1971, according to bdnews24.com.
