B Chowdhury to hold dialogue with political parities

Tuesday, 23 October 2007

Bikalpadhara Bangladesh (BDB) President AQM Badruduzza Chowdhury said he would hold dialogue with all political parties to exchange the views on a proposed national consensus government.
The BDB president said this at a press briefing at KC Memorial Hall in the city Monday, reports UNB.
"We are going to send letters immediately to all political parties for clarifying the structure of a national consensus government", he said.
The BDB chief said the proposed consensus government could be formed after the national election with the participation of all elected members of parliament.
"This kind of government is not unconstitutional and we have given the proposal in national interest", he said.
The dialogue would be designed to allay misunderstanding among political parties about the structure of this kind of government, he added.
He also made it clear that Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh would not be taken into the proposed national government, even if they have members in the next parliament.
He said the national consensus government would be formed on the basis of patriotism, democracy and development.
Replying to a query, the BDB leader said he has not been prompted by any quarter to propose the formation of a consensus government.
BDB General Secretary Abdul Mannan, presidium members Nurul Amin Bepary and MA Halim, and Organising Secretary Mahi B Chowdhury took part in the press briefing.
Replying to a question, Mahi B Chowdhury said one faction of BNP supported the proposal while Awami League did not oppose it.
"Their (AL) criticism was merely political", he observed.
