Monday, 17 March 2014

President of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) Prof AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on Monday denounced the jailing of senior BNP leaders, saying it is devoid of political etiquette. “This is not the right attitude to send the senior leaders of BNP to jail, including its acting secretary general. This is not a good sign for
democracy,” he said. The BDB chief was talking to reporters after visiting the family members of BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at their Uttara residence. Deploring the jailing of the senior BNP leaders, B Chowdhury said Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Mirza Abbas are not the type of people to flee. They could be quizzed outside, if necessary, instead of imprisoning them.” He also said the BNP leaders should be allowed to exercise their democratic rights on the streets for the sake of democracy, according to a news agency.
