Babar was behind plot to kill Kibria: CID
Wednesday, 25 May 2011
Six years after the gruesome murder of former Finance Minister Shah AMS Kibria, reinvestigations into the case found former State Minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar to be a mastermind of the plot executed by militants, officials said, reports BSS.
"We are set to submit the charge sheet tomorrow after the extended investigations naming 14 new suspects including Babar, HuJI leader Mufty Mohammad Hannan and Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tayaba (LeT) leader Abdul Majed Batt," Senior Assistant Superintendent of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Rafiqul Islam told the news agency.
He said the past three years of CID reinvestigations could unearth that the 10 suspects named in the previous charge sheet during the past BNP-led four-party coalition government were found largely to be innocent people.
"We have kept their names in the fresh charge sheet leaving their matter to be decided by the court, but our reinvestigation found involvement of the 14 new suspects who were spared during the previous probe," Islam, who is also the investigation officer of the case, said.
