Baby girl slain at Keraniganj

Tuesday, 4 August 2009

FE Report
Unknown assailants slaughtered a baby girl at a village in Keraniganj, on the outskirts of the capital, in the early hours of Monday, police said.
Some miscreants picked up Mohona, a four-month-old daughter of Gautam Mondal, from their house at dead of night, while the baby was asleep with her mother Poli, an officer of Keraniganj police station told the FE over phone.
After finding their baby missing, both Gautam and Poli informed police and the police conducted a drive in search of the missing child.
The police with the help of locals recovered the slain body of the baby from under a tree adjacent to their house at about 6:00am and sent it to Mitford Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The reason, however, behind the murder could not be known immediately. But police suspected that previous enmity with Gautom's family might be a cause behind it.
No arrest was made in connection with the murder. A case was filed with the police.
