Baby killed by relatives, two held in Sherpur

SHERPUR, May 19 (UNB) : A two and a half years old baby was killed allegedly by her relatives at Charbabna Ghunapara village in Sadar Upazila early Wednesday. Victim's father Saiful Islam said Alam Mia, husband of his elder sister Samala Begum, attacked and injured him over land dispute. Saiful said at one stage when he fell unconscious, Alam killed his daughter, Parveen, with a sharp weapon. Police arrested Samala Begum, wife of Alam, and her daughter Alvi Begum in connection with the killing at 5:30am. Saiful and his wife Fatema Begum were also taken to the thana for interrogation. Local police officials visited the spot. Local people buried the body of the baby in absence of her parents in the afternoon as the body reached the house after autopsy. It was alleged that baby's father killed her in a bid to implicate his elder sister and her husband in a murder case. Police said the matter seemed complicated. They said they started investigation to unearth the truth behind the brutal incident.
