The Chehlum (memorial service) of late journalist, writer and former MP AN Mahfuza Khatun Baby Moudud will be held on Friday (September 5). Baby Moudud’s son Rabiul Hasan Avi has invited her relatives, friends, all colleagues and co-workers and admirers to the memorial service to be held at her residence, house No 45, Road 10, Dhanmondi residential area, after the Maghreeb prayers on the day. Baby Moudud, also a social worker and women rights activist, died at a Dhaka hospital on July 25 of cancer after a long battle at the relatively young age of 66. She had been the Social Affairs Editor at bdnews24.com since 2009. Born in Kolkata on June 23, 1948, Baby Moudud began her career as a journalist in 1967. She worked for the BBC, Daily Sangbad, Ittefaq, BSS, and Weekly Bichitra before joining bdnews24.com. She joined the East Pakistan Students' Union in her student days at Dhaka University, and also served as a member of the Rokeya Hall student council from 1967-68, according to a news agency.
