BADC procures 3,261 tonnes of boro seeds in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, Aug 4 (BSS): Contract Growers Office, a component of the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), has procured 3,261 tonnes of boro seeds in the district this year.
The office sources said five varieties of boro seeds were procured from June to August this year. The varieties are-- BRRI-28, BRRI-29, BR-26, BR-14 and Nerica Kudrat.
The BADC procured 1,199 tonnes of BRRI-28 seeds, 1,796 tonnes of BRRI-29, 86 tonnes of BR-26, 164 tonnes of BR-14 and 12 tonnes of Nerica Kudrat seeds.
The office sources said a total of 3,261 acres of land were brought under boro cultivation under 288 schemes in the district this year.
Deputy Director of the BADC Khogengra Chandra Roy said we purchased the seeds from our 1,154 registered farmers.
The price of per kilogram (kg) seeds of BRRI-28 and BR- 26 was fixed at Tk 31 and the rest varieties were Tk 30.50, he added.
