Badi warned, but bail upheld

The Appellate Division has upheld the bail granted to Awami League MP Abdur Rahman Badi but warned him against commenting on matters subjudice. A full appellate bench headed by Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha gave the order on Tuesday. The Cox’s Bazar MP is accused of concealing assets worth Tk 108.7 million and dodging taxes in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission in August. Lawyer Md Khurshid Alam, representing the ACC, alleged that Badi made several comments on the graft watchdog. ‘MP Badi said several things about the ACC during a public rally in Chittagong on September 15. We’ve placed before the court newspaper reports about his comments. The court has given him a final warning saying the court can cancel his bail if he makes such remarks again,’ he added, according to bdnews24.com.
