Bagerhat Jamaat leader arrested

Police arrested a local leader of Jamaat-e-Islami in Khardar area in Bagerhat town on Monday afternoon over violence. The arrestee was identified as Advocate Sheikh Abdul Wadud, 48, secretary of the district unit of Jamaat and son of Joynal Abedin, a resident of Sonakura village in Rampal Upazila. Police said being informed, they arrested Wadud in the afternoon in connection with a case on violence at Dewanbati village in Sadar Upazila on October 28. Earlier, an arrest warrant was issued against him for the violence case, according to UNB.
