Baharul new Chairman of Sonali Bank

Quazi Baharul Islam has recently been appointed chairman of Sonali Bank Limited (SBL), said a press release.
Prior to this appointment, Mr Islam had served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in as many as five banks both of private and public sectors including ICB beside his tenure as general manager of SBL, UK Operation.
During his long banking career, he had served as consultant of the World Bank, as well as, member/convener of different committees set up by the government and Bangladesh Bank.
He also served as director in several banks including the Development Financial Institutions (DFIs), Bangladesh Shilpa Bank (BSB) and Bangladesh Shilpa Rin Sangstha (BSRS). He also served as member of the bank's reform committee.
Mr Islam obtained his post-graduate degree in Political Science from the University of Dhaka in 1963.
