Bail for Mohiuddin Chowdhury

ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, President of Chittagong city unit Awami League and former mayor of the port city, has been granted bail by a Chittagong court in a case filed for amassing wealth and concealing information to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). Chittagong Divisional Special Judge SM Ataur Rahman on Tuesday granted the bail to Mohiuddin Chowdhury until the next hearing on February 16. Earlier in the morning, Mohiuddin appeared before the court seeking bail a day after the Chittagong Divisional Special Judge issued an arrest warrant against him in the case. Abu Mohammad Arif Siddique, deputy director of ACC, Chittagong, filed the case during tenure of the last caretaker government. Mohiuddin was sued for concealing information of his wealth amounting to about Tk 20.37 million and for amassing wealth of about Tk 10.45m beyond his known income sources, according to private TV channels.
