Bail remains for Hasina in Noor Ali case
Tuesday, 14 August 2007
The Supreme Court Tuesday did not stay Sheikh Hasina's bail in an extortion case filed by
businessman Noor Ali, nor did it freeze a High Court stay order on the Anticorruption
Commission's notice for her wealth statement. The apex court set the next hearing date for
Thursday on government appeals against the HC orders. A full bench of six judges, headed by
chief justice Md Ruhul Amin, set the date. On August 7, the HC granted Hasina bail in the Noor Ali
case and froze the efficacy of the ACC notice.
