FE Report | Friday, 13 June 2014

The Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) said Thursday it was willing to cut migration, cost provided the government reduced its existing charges.
They said they were ready to cut cost of migration but due to high medical test and air ticket fees, airport taxes and manpower clearance fee, the migration cost increased significantly.
The BAIRA leaders made the observations while exchanging views with the representatives from the Reporters for Bangladeshi Migrants (RBM) at its office in the city.
Senior vice president of BAIRA, Ali Haider Chowdhury, secretary general Monsur Ahmed Kalam and RBM members were present at the meeting.
BAIRA president Mohammad Abul Bashar said they were always ready to reduce migration cost and they wanted to cooperate with the government to that end.
He also said they would address the migration cost issue in their next meeting with the Minister for Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment on June 18 next.
BAIRA senior vice president Ali Haider Chowdhury said the government could set rational migration costs for different countries so that "we can follow it."
BAIRA leaders also published a notice Thursday in newspapers about illegal migration to Malaysia, Iraq and Libya and other countries.
BAIRA leaders also said any recruitment agency listed under the BAIRA did not send workers to Malaysia by boat.
