Bajunia-Ramdia road in Gopalganj in bad shape

GOPALGANJ, Aug 20: Bajunia-Ramdia district highway under Sadar upazila in the district is in a sorry state, which may cause fatal accident any time.
Binay Sarker Anadi, chairman of the Sahapur Union Parishad, told the FE that the 30-km Bajunia-Ramdia road was not repaired for a long time. So, several points of the road were seriously damaged.
As a result, losses of life and property may take place due to the bad condition of the road, the UP chairman said.
According to local sources said the road supervision is going on under the Road and Highway Department (RHD) in Gopalganj.
But, there is no acquisition of land for this road. That's why land owners are deprived of compensation.
One stage, local people said earlier Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) in Gopalganj were supervision this road.
Wayab Ali, chairman of Kajulia union under Gopalganj Sadar upazila, told the FE that nearer 75-80,000 of people living under three unions which covering by this road communication for those peoples in this region and maximum people is poor. They are depended on agriculture and fish cultivation.
They are used on the road for selling their products. On the other hand, when smoothly completion the road, then people in their region able more easily carry their product.
According to the RHD, Gopalganj official sources said in the year of the 2012-2013 fiscal year under the Road and Highway Department (RHD) in Gopalganj were taken supervision of the road and ongoing till now.
But, they did not extension the road smoothly due to shortage of land both side of the road. Because land owners of both sides did not surrender their land for develop the road.
In this circumstance, local elites urged to the authorities concerned to take necessary steps immediately for benefit of poor people in this region.
