Bakhrabad-5 well starts supplying gas
FE Report | Monday, 13 October 2014
Bakhrabad-5, a well at Bakhrabad gas field, started supplying around 5.0 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) of natural gas to national grid from Sunday, a senior Petrobangla official said.
The state-owned Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Ltd (BAPEX) carried out work over of the well to initiate natural gas production, he said.
Natural gas production from Bakhrabad gas field increased to 39 mmcfd from seven wells with the new one.
Petrobangla's subsidiary Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited (BGFCL) had engaged BAPEX to work over the well, Bapex Managing Director, Mahbub Sarwar, told the FE Sunday.
The well has limited scope to increase natural gas production further, he added.
Currently, the country's natural gas output reached 2,282 mmcfd against the demand for around 2700-3,000 mmcfd.
