Balmy, blazing heat for another 2-3 days

As mercury is rising day by day people are suffering due to the balmy, blazing heat. Worse, there will be no respite in the next few days as the Met Office has forecast that the hot spell will continue for some tomes. The Met Office forecast on Tuesday said the severe heat wave which is parching a vast swathe of Bangladesh because of a low in the Bay and lack of rain, will continue for a few more days. Meteorologists said the oppressive heat will sweep over more areas with no possibility of Nor’westers or cyclonic circulations that bring rain. The office on Monday recorded the season’s highest temperature at 42.6 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga -- 0.2 per cent more than the record temperature of April 24 in Jessore. The current one is the second heat wave of the season with the first one hitting the country during April 20-27 period. Senior Meteorologist Md Rasheduzzaman said a low in the east central Bay and adjoining areas and the drought-like situation have created the heat wave. He said: ‘There is no probability of rain in 2-4 days .The heat wave will continue for these days,’ according to a news agency,
