Ban on Hilsa fish catching from Oct 5

Catching, selling and carrying of Hilsa fish will be banned for 11 days next month to boost production of the delicious fish. According to the Protection and Conservation of Fish Act-2011, the ban will be effective from October 5 to 15 during the main breeding period of Hilsa fish in the country. The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Fisheries and Livestock Ministry following a meeting, according to private TV channels.
