Ban on holding rally, procession to be imposed

Local administration is going to impose a ban for 48 hours on holding all types of meeting, procession, gathering and rally in Sunamganj-4 where by-election is scheduled to be held Monday (June 15), reports UNB.
The restriction will be imposed from Saturday midnight (June 13).
It said plying of motorised vehicles will also be banned in the constituency from Sunday midnight to Monday midnight.
However, the vehicles plying across highways and carrying experts, journalists and employees engaged in election coverage, ambulance and transports of power, gas and posts and telecommunications, will remain out of the purview of the restriction.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has requested the candidates, political party workers and general people to abide by the restriction to maintain law and order.
The parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of Momtaz Iqbal Chowdhury, MP of Jatiya Party.
