Speakers at a discussion Friday demanded immediate trial of the war criminals, ban on communal politics and arrest of Golam Azam and Amini, reports BSS.
They said communal politics should be banned if the government wants to develop the country into a modern and progressive one and implement the ideology of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
They were speaking at a meeting organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote (BSJ) to press the demand for banning communal politics and uprooting militancy at the National Press Club.
Nasima Akhter Labu, a central leader of the jote chaired the meeting.
Acting General Secretary of BSJ Arun Sarker Rana, freedom fighter Farid Ali, president of Amra Muktijoddhar Santan Sazzad Hossain, Joint Secretary Monowar Hossain Tipu and president of Ganatantrik League MA Jalil, among others, spoke at the meeting.
The speakers alleged that Jama'at-Shibir and other communal political organisations are misguiding the people misinterpreting Islam.
If the communal parties are not banned, the speakers said, the 'clique' would jeopardize the law and order situation and create instability in the country.
Later, leaders and workers of BSJ formed a human chain demanding immediate trial of the war criminals.
