Bangabandhu initiated work on maritime boundary

Sunday, 13 July 2014

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan told a rally at Kulpaddi in Madaripur that BNP is trying to make an issue out of an island that does not exist. Referring to the background of the demarcation of the maritime boundary, he said, ‘Bangabandhu had started work on it. But successive governments ignored it. It was Sheikh Hasina’s government that took up the matter with the international court. We won the case with Myanmar and now we have won with India, said the shipping minister. He was addressing a meeting organised to mark the inauguration of a regional passport office at Kulpaddi. He said when BNP was in power they had served Indian interest the most, but now out-of-power, they have taken an anti-India posture,’ according to BSS.
