Friday, 10 August 2007

The Supreme Court ended Thursday the third day of hearing on a series of appeals in the Bangabandhu murder case, reports bdnews24.com.
An Appellate Division Bench of Justice Tafazzal Islam, Justice Joynal Abedin and Justice Md Hasan Amin heard the proceedings of the landmark case. The court will hear the case further Sunday.
Death-sentence convict Bazlul Huda's counsel Nurul Islam Bhuiyan continued reading the paper book of the case. He read through pages 1055 to 1165 of the paper book.
After the court completed the day's work, Bhuiyan told reporters: "I have completed reading Justice Ruhul Amin's verdict against Bazlul Huda and Shahriar Rashid Khan and the statement of co-defendants."
The Appellate Division started the first day of the hearing Tuesday on the appeals termed as "petitions for leave to appeal" that sought permission to move against the High Court's death sentences handed down in 2001.
