Bangabandhu was pioneer of non-communal BD: Nasim

Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim said Sunday that father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the pioneer of non-communal Bangladesh, reports BSS.
"The defeated forces of war of liberation killed Bangabandhu along with most of his family members in 1975 and destroyed the communal harmony. Later, his daughter Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina restored the communal harmony," Mr Nasim told a Janmashtami rally in Sirajganj Sunday.
Nasim, also Awami League (AL) presidium member, recalled the contribution of the people of all religions to the War of Liberation in 1971 with due respect and called upon all people irrespective of religions, cast and party affiliations to help the present government's development activities.
Sirajganj Puja Celebration Parishad organised the rally on the occasion of Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna, with its president Advocate Sukumar Dash in the chair.
Central Puja Celebration Committee Adviser Advocate Bimol Kumar Dash inaugurated the rally.
Selina Begum Swapna, MP, Santosh Kanu of Puja Celebration Parishad, Deputy Commissioner, police super and local Awami League leaders were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam said Sunday militancy in Bangladesh was originated at Hawa Bhaban with the aim to turn the country a communal state.
"Defeated forces of '71, killers of '75, BNP, Jamaat and militants are not different anymore, rather they are joint force now," the minister made the observation while addressing a human chain organised by Awami Swechchasebok League (ASL) in front of the National Press Club marking the 9th anniversary of series bombing carried out by Jammat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).
The programme was also addressed by ASL president Mollah Md Abu Kawser, general secretary Pankaj Debnath, Liberation War Affairs Secretary Rafikul Islam Liton, Faridur Rahman Iran and Arifur Rahman Titu.
Advocate Qamrul said a meeting was held at Hawa Bhaban in preparation of the grenade attack (21 August, 2004) on the rally of Awami League. The whole preparation was made by Tarique Rahman, elder son of BNP supremo Khaleda Zia.
