Bangabangdhu Gold Cup tournament

It is sad that Bangladesh could not lift the Bangabangdhu Gold Cup, but our national football team has won the hearts of millions of Bangladeshis through its jigsaw battle. With a win over Thailand in the semi-final, Bangladesh drew a huge crowd to the stadium and in front of TV sets to watch the game. This will definitely go a long way to revive competitive football in our country. The whole team deserves kudos for their all-out efforts. As an ardent football fan, I was really proud to see the quality of football that our team exhibited. I hope, Bangladesh football federation will take a cue from the success of this year's Bangabandhu gold cup and organize few more regional and international football tournaments every year. I am sure if Bangladesh plays with the same spirit, the day is not far away when popularity of football in our country will be sky high. Football is the most popular game in the world and was also quite the same in our country a few years ago. But, people's interest in the game began to wane due to poor management and declining standard of the game in Bangladesh. As a football enthusiast, I join millions of others like me, to wish our football a very happy journey ahead.
