Bangladesh A lost to Zimbabwe A team by 17 runs in the first match of their three-match unofficial One Day International (ODI) series at the Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah Sunday, reports UNB.
In the day's match, replying to Zimbabwe's 253 runs, hosts Bangladesh were all out for 236 runs in 49.3 overs.
Bangladesh faced early jolt losing three top order batsmen-Shahriar Nafees (2), skipper Marshal Ayub (2) and Mominul Haque (2) for 36 runs in 10.5 overs.
In the 4th wicket stand, opener Soumya Sarkar (56) pairing with Naeem Islam (66) contributed 63 runs in 15.3 overs to repair the early damage taking the team total to 99 for 4 in 26.2 overs.
Bangladesh continued well in the fifth wicket stand also as Naeem Islam partnering with Mosaddek Hossain (49) contributed 56 runs in 11.5 overs to carry the team total to 155 for 5 in 38.1 overs.
Later, number eight batsman Elias Sunny added 42 runs to the total while no other Bangladesh batsmen could reach double digit.
Tafadzwa Kamungozi claimed four wickets for 24 runs while Tawanda Mupariwa grabbed three wickets for 42 runs, Cuthbert Musoko took two wickets and Timycen Maruma took the other one.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Zimbabwe posted the challenging total of 253 for 6 in stipulated 50 overs.
Opening batsman Regis Chakabva scored a century with team highest 132 runs off 144 balls that featured 13 fours and three sixes.
