Bangladesh an important neighbour of India: Salman

India will extend all sorts of cooperation for development of Bangladesh. India is also grateful to Bangladesh for extending cooperation to its close neighbour. Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid told journalists emerging from a meeting with Bangladesh foreign secretary Shahidul Huq here today. Khurshid said, "Bangladesh is a very important neighbour of India. India always attaches importance on the friendship between the two close neighbours." He said the situation in Bangladesh has become stable following the parliament polls and the polls to the local government bodies have now been held in Bangladesh. The Indian External Affairs Minister said India is happy over the development that Bangladesh achieved and the relations between India and Bangladesh would be more cemented with more development of its close neighbour. Bangladesh High Commissioner in New Delhi Tarique A Karim was present at the meeting. Earlier, Bangladesh foreign secretary Shahidul Huq had bilateral talks with his Indian counterpart Sujata Singh, according to a news agency. The Bangladesh foreign secretary had also a meeting with National Security Adviser to the Indian Prime Minister Shiv Shankar Menon.
