Bangladesh announces team for India Test

Wednesday, 3 June 2015

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Wednesday announced a 14-man squad for playing the one-off Test against neighbouring rival India, with pacer Rubel Hossain returning back to the team. BCB chief selector Faruque Ahmed announced the squad at the BCB office in Mirpur. The solitary Test of the Za’n Zee Ice Cream Cricket Series is scheduled to begin on June 10 at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah. Experienced pacer Rubel Hossain returned to the squad replacing injured Shahadat Hossain. There is no other change in the Tigers’ squad who played their last Test against Pakistan ending on May 9 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Rubel was ruled out of the second Test against Pakistan with a left-side injury after he felt discomfort while bowling in the first Test. Rubel’s replacement Shahadat twisted his right knee after bowling just two balls in the second Test against Pakistan which ruled him out for six months. However, Rubel passed the fitness test last week along with Tamim Iqbal (knee), Shakib Al Hasan (shin bone), Mushfiqur Rahim (finger) and Shafiul Islam (hand).
Mohammad Shahid, Abul Hasan, Shuvagata Hom and Jubair Hossain Likhon retained their place in the squad. Apart from the lone Test, Bangladesh will play three ODIs against the visitor in the series scheduled to be held on June 18, 21 and 24 at SBNCS. Bangladesh Test squad: Mushfiqur Rahim (Captain), Tamim Iqbal (Vice Captain), Imrul Kayes, Liton Kumar Das, Mominul Hoque, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Shuvagata Hom Chowdhury, Soumya Sarker, Taijul Islam, Zubaer Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Abul Hasan and Mohammad Shahid, according to UNB.
