Bangladesh Athletics team leave for Iran

They will compete in Asian Indoor Athletics

A seven-member Bangladesh Athletics team left Dhaka for Iran on Thursday morning without any coach to compete in the Asian Indoor Athletics Championship 2024, reports UNB.
The 11th version of the Asian Indoor Athletics championship will be held in the Iranian capital Tehran from February 17-19 where last three-time fastest man of Bangladesh Imranur Rahman will compete in his favourite men's 60- meter sprint for gold.
The 30- year old England-based Bangladesh origin athlete Imranur Rahman bring laurel for the country as he emerged as the first Bangladeshi athlete to win the first- ever Asian gold medal in the men's 60- meter sprint of the 10th Asian Indoor Athletics held in Astana, Kazakhstan February last year.
Bangladesh athletics team consists of five athletes and two officials.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Athletics Federation Advocate Abdur Rakib Montu accompanied the Bangladesh side as the team leader cum congress delegate while Federation's treasurer M Jamal Hossain also accompanied the team as an official. On eve of departure, athlete Imranur Rahman sought blessing from the country's people. The Athletics team is expected to return home on February 20
Five athletes of the team are: Imranur Rahman, Rakibul Hasan (60-meter sprint), Zahir Raihan (400-meter run), Mahfuzur Rahman (High Jump) and Shirin Akhter (60-meter sprint).
