Bangladesh attaches great importance to relations with neighbouring nations

Bangladesh attaches great importance to its bilateral relations with other neighbouring countries.
Apprising the delegation of the Indian National Defence College (NDC), led by Air Vice Marshal Shanker Mani as a friendly country, President Iajuddin Ahmed said this when they called on him at Bangabhaban in the city Monday, reports UNB.
The President welcomed the 16-member delegation, exchanged pleasantries with them and expressed satisfaction at their visit to Bangladesh.
He said the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and other friendly countries, including SAARC members, "are excellent and it would be further strengthened and deepened in the days to come".
The President wished the delegation a pleasant stay in Bangladesh.
He stressed the need for enhancing such type of visit programme to the mutual benefit of the participating countries.
He also expressed the hope that it would help increase professional skill of the participants and the bonds of friendship tightened among the participating countries.
The delegation apprised the President of the objectives of the visit and explained the activities of the NDC, India.
They thanked the President for giving them time and patient hearing.
They also expressed sincere gratitude to the government of Bangladesh for providing warm hospitality during their stay in Bangladesh.
The delegation, from the rank of colonel to major general, comprises the members of Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, Sri Lankan Army, Ugandan Defence Force, Nigerian Army and three other senior civil officials of India.
Military Secretary to the President M Aminul Karim, Secretary to the President's Office M Sirajul Islam and press secretary to the President Abdul Awal Howlader and officials concerned were present.
