Two nice unbeaten knocks by Shahriar Nafees (90) and captain Mohammad Ashraful (64) enabled them to reach the moderate target of 186 in 39.5 overs loosing two wickets.
The first of 3-match Ispahani ODI Series was played at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium (SBNS).
Opener Tamim Iqbal fell victim of Langford-Smith for 13 when he sliced the ball to Greg Thomson at point in the 6th over leaving the total at 25 for 1.
Number three Aftab Ahmed, who missed the recently concluded ODI series against South Africa due to injury, was the 2nd and last man to go for 11 being caught by Strydom off a Johnston delivery at the team total of 56 for 2.
Opener Shahriar Nafees joined by captain Ashraful did the rest for Bangladesh with a 130-run 3rd wicket stand to enable the tigers in coming out of their 14 ODI loss on the trot.
Shahriar struck an unbeaten 90 off 121 balls with 11 glorious fours, while Ashraful, who marked his return to form with 64 not out off 90 balls including eight fours, to seal the victory with 61 balls to spare.
Skipper Johnston and Langford-Smith shared both the wickets for the visitors giving away 17 and 49 runs respectively.
Earlier asked to bowl first, the Bangladesh bowlers did well to restrict Ireland to 185 for 7 in the stipulated 50 overs.
The slow bowlers did well to keep Ireland down to 115 for 6 till the 35th over before a lower-order revival by Alex Cusack and Trent Johnston gave the visitors a respectable total.
Vice-captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, the lone seamer, set Ireland back early by dismissing the openers -- Porterfield (1), Strydom (8) -- both edged to the wicket keeper Dhiman Ghose.
Niall O'Brien, Ireland's in-form player, made good start with two fours and a six but failed to carry on driving straight to Farhad Reza at cover for 15 off a delivery from off spinner Mahmudullah Riyad.
Eoin Morgan and Kevin O'Brien made some recovery with a stand of 38 for the fourth wicket before Morgan played all over a yorker from Reza. Kevin fell soon after - trapped in front on the sweep to Shakib Al Hasan - and Ireland were in trouble at 97 for 5.
Following Andre Botha's run-out four overs later, Johnston and Cusack staged the highest partnership of the match, 65, to prop up Ireland.
Mashrafe was the pick among the bowlers claiming 3 wickets for 22 runs in 10 overs with four maidens to be adjudged Man of the Match.
