Bangladesh beaten 6-0 by hosts India

Bangladesh suffered a humiliating 0-6 goals defeat against hosts India in a pool B match of the 7th Men's Asia Cup Hockey Championship in Chennai, India today (Tuesday), reports UNB.
With the day's win, favourites India clearly dominate the group securing full 12 points from straight four matches while Bangladesh remained at the second slot jointly with Korea and China collecting six points.
But Bangladesh earned six points from four matches while Korea and China made it from three matches.
In the day's match, Bangladesh held their giant neighbour India at bay till the 30th minute, but conceded three field goals within seven minutes -- in the 31st, 37th and 38th minutes.
They conceded three more goals in the 49th, 57th and 66th minutes to suffer a humiliating defeat, similar to the one against China.
Bangladesh custodian Zahid Hossain, who performed brilliantly under the bar to foil a series of Indian attacks one after another, was later adjudged man of the match.
Earlier, Bangladesh beat Thailand by 13-0 goals and Sri Lanka by 3-2 goals, but lost to Asian Games silver medalist China by 0-6 goals.
On the other hand, India emerged as top favorites winning all four group matches beating title contenders Korea 3-2, Sri Lanka 20-0 and China 1-0, apart from Bangladesh.
Bangladesh will play their 5th and last group match against title contender Korea on Sept 6.
In the day's other match, Hong Kong tasted the first victory in their fourth group match beating all-losers Singapore 3-2 at the same venue.
