Monday, 22 September 2008

Bangladesh consulate in Jeddah is trying to increase export of manpower while also working to solve problems of expatriate workers employed in Saudi Arabia, an official statement said Sunday, reports UNB.
The Press Information Department said in the statement that the Jeddah-based consulate was trying to revamp the image of Bangladeshi labourers and stop harassment of workers through consultation with Saudi labour offices at Makkah, Madina, Tayef, Jizan, Albaha, Nazran, Tabuk and Ianbu.
It said the Saudi immigration authorities have assured Bangladesh of ensuring legal stay of Bangladeshi workers in the western part of the kingdom.
It said the labour wing of the consulate was now working even on weekends to provide legal support and other services to the Bangladeshi workers.
