Bangladesh-Denmark Friendship Bridge opens for traffic

The Bangladesh Den-mark Friendship Bridge constructed over Arpan-gshia river under Kalapara Upazila of Patuakhali district was opened to traffic recently by State Minister for Water Resources Md. Mahbubur Rahman. Amba-ssador of Denmark in Bangladesh Einar Hebo-gard Jensen and Chief Engineer of LGED Md Wahidur Rahman were present on the occasion, among others, said a press release
The 100.00m long bridge had been constructed at a cost of Tk. 579 million as a part of SIDR rehabilitation support by the government of Denmark. The bridge will give benefit to the people of Chakamaiya Union Parishad of Kalapara Upazila as well as people from four other Union Parishads of Amtali Upazila of Barguna district.
After the inaugural ceremony, a meeting was held at the auditorium of Kalapara Upazila Parishad under the chairmanship of Wahidur Rahman.
State minister for water resources said the Bangla-desh Denmark Friendship Bridge will contribute greatly to the communication sector for the SIDR affected people of Kalapara Upazila.
