Bangladesh eye AFF title

Bangladesh eyes to clinch the 6th Bangabandhu SAFF Championship crown to be held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city on December 4-13, reports UNB.
Addressing at a pre-match press conference Wednesday Bangladesh Captain Aminul Haque said that they were committed from their respective position to do well in the championship taking the home ground advantage.
"We have ability of doing well as we have been toiling ahead of the championship for a year," Aminul claimed. "If every thing goes well, we're sure to achieve the crown of the championship."
He added, "We have undergone rigorous training for last few days and now its time to show our best on the ground."
Newly appointed national team head coach Sohidujjaman Santu said that during the 19 days training, he had got little time to overcome the existing problems in the squad. But it has reached the satisfactory level. He expressed the hope that Bangladesh would reach on top in the tournament.
Sri Lanka skipper Chathcira Maduranga Weerasinghe said that in the SAFF their first target is to reach semifinal and later the final.
He admitted that they consider Bangladesh as the toughest opponent in the tournament.
Pakistan team manager Dr kamran Mehdi said they would try to show good football in the tournament.
Pakistan coach George Adalbert Kotton said he considers Bangladesh as their second home ground.
Replying to a question he said they have come here to show good football and are hopeful of doing good.
Defending champion Maldives coach Urbany Istvan Bela said they have been practising for last two months ahead of the championship to demonstrate their best performance in the championship.
"In fact any win is very important for us and we will try to enjoy each match," Bela said. "We have some new players in the squad and this squad is stronger than the previous champion team."
Sri Lanka made practice in Abahani ground, Maldives in BUET ground, India in Kamalapur Stadium and Pakistan in Brothers Union ground in the afternoon.
