Bangladesh fair in KL next month

A three-day trade fair "Showcase Bangladesh 2014" will kick off in Kuala Lumpur (KL) next month aiming to highlight the country's political stability suitable for foreign investment.
Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) in collaboration with Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia, Malaysia South-South Association (MASSA) and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) is organising the show, scheduled for November 10.
"The main objective of the fair is to brandBangladesh. We want to let all know that Bangladesh is a good place for investment," Nurul Islam, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Showcase Bangladesh 2014, said at a press briefing held at a city hotel Sunday.
Acting High Commissioner of Malaysia in Dhaka Ahmed Fikri Zakian launched the official website of the showcase www.showcase.bmcci.org.bd while BMCCI President Nasir A Choudhury, its former president Syed Moazzem Hossain, were present.
BMCCI also wants to promote Bangladesh as a lucrative business hub, highlighting the increasing diversity of the economy, and contributing in reducing the trade gap between Bangladesh and Malaysia, Mr Islam, also the immediate past President of BMCCI, said.
Besides investment opportunities in infrastructure development and industries, there are immense possibilities for Malaysian investments in the country's tourism sector, said Syed Moazzem Hossain.
The participating companies from different sectors will highlight the competencies and diversity of Bangladesh, he said adding the showcase will be the platform upon which the entrepreneurs of Bangladesh and Malaysia can explore new business opportunities beyond the geographical boundaries.
About 60 Bangladeshi Companies will participate in the showcase with their products and services including apparel, infrastructure, ICT and telecom, jute and jute products, hotel and tourism, halal and frozen foods, leather products, pharmaceuticals, herbal and ayurvedic products, ceramic tableware, consumer products, cosmetics and toiletries, handicraft, handloom products and banking and insurance companies.
There will also be seminars, one-to-one business meetings, cultural programmes and gala dinner.
