The official website of FIFA (www.fifa.com) has featured a picture of the 3.5-km-long national flag of Germany that Bangladesh farmer Amzad Hossain made in support of the German World Cup football team. The Germans won the World Cup beating Argentina 1-0 in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday (Brazil standard time). One day before the World Cup final, German Charge d’Affaires Ferdinand von Weyhe went to Magura district to see the mighty flag and announced to award Amzad a lifetime membership of the official fan club of the German World Cup team. Hossain, who hails from Ghorhamara, sold a 50 decimal land to raise the money to stitch together the flag, which cost him Tk 150,000. He had employed three tailors, who were paid over Tk 40,000, to sew together the over 3-kilometre long flag, according to bdnews24.com.
