Bangladesh fetches $13m export orders from IFMA Show

Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) participated in the just-concluded four-day fair 'IFMA Cologne Show' in Cologne, Germany from September 13 to September 16.
Most of the important light engineering exporting companies around the world took part in the fair. Two bicycle manufacturing and exporting companies of Bangladesh participated in the fair under the auspices of the EPB.
IFMA Show is known to be the biggest gathering to introduce light engineering products to German buyers and as well as to other European and North American buyers.
During the show Bangladeshi companies received export orders worth $5.5 million as confirmed orders and $7.5 million as prospective orders. Negotiation is still going on with the newly-contacted buyers.
A total of 30 business enquiries were received in the fair apart from 10 one-to-one business meeting held with the interested parties. The trade fair provided good ground for making new business contacts with renowned bicycle-importing companies and 50 new business contacts were made during the fair.
A wide range of bicycles and accessories were put on display in the Bangladesh pavilion during the fair. Bangladesh pavilion has been very successful in attracting a sizeable number of reputed buyers.
EPB has been organising Bangladesh's participation in IFMA Show on regular basis for the last few years to popularise local accessories including bicycles to European buyers and also to project the glimpses of advancement Bangladesh has achieved in the sector.
Two Bangladeshi companies -- Trans-world Bicycle Company Ltd and Meghna Bangladesh Ltd -- participated in the IFMA Show. Item displayed were all-terrain bikes, BMX bikes, boys'/girls bicycles, children's bicycle, city bikes, folding cycle, mountain bikes, trekking bikes, etc.
Visiting buyers/importers in Bangladesh pavilion praised the Bangladeshi products and its quality. Some of them showed their keen interest and remained busy to negotiate with the Bangladeshi companies.
