Bangladesh food cos to attend Foodex Japan 2009

Foodex Japan 2009, the largest food and beverage exhibition in Asia and Pacific region will be held between March 3 and 6, 2009 at Makuhari Messe, Chiba in Japan and a pavilion, called 'JETRO Zone' will also be arranged during the period.
Food manufacturing companies from developing countries including Bangladesh will participate in the exhibition facilitated by Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), said a press release.
The objective of 'JETRO Zone' is to boost the export from developing countries to Japan through the assistance for companies in food sector of developing countries in entering the Japanese food market.
'JETRO Zone' will be a first step to enter the world's second biggest market that imports 60 per cent of its food supply worth US$ 44 billion.
Composed of 32 booths (of which 28 booths will be allotted to each participating companies from developing countries), "JETRO Zone" provides exhibitors with basic booth decorations and equipments, shared basis interpreters, free consultation services by Japanese experts on Japan's food industry and a series of seminars on the Japanese market.
Furthermore, in order to facilitate the participation of companies from developing countries, the booth fee will be subsidized 70 per cent by JETRO.
Participants of "JETRO Zone" can take full advantage of this event and have a chance to make business connections with Japanese buyers.
The application from prospective food manufacturers will be accepted until October 09, 2008.
The exhibition also comprised of over 3,400 booths, with exhibitors from 65 counties.
